Crime Alert | Villanova University

The Radnor Township Police Department has issued a crime alert in reference to two incidents which occurred on the campus of Villanova University, who released the following information in regard to them:

Burglary – October 14, 2021 @ 11:50 PM. An unknown person entered a residence hall room on the first floor of Good Counsel Hall. The room was vacant and the residents of the room have been notified. The actor gained access through a window on the first floor. It appears that only one room was entered during the incident, and it is unknown at this time if anything was taken. The subject can be seen leaving the building on CCTV, and that image is attached to this message. This incident is currently under investigation by the Villanova University Police, who are being assisted by crime scene personnel from the Pennsylvania State Police.

Motor Vehicle Theft - On September 29, an unlocked vehicle was stolen from the I-1 garage on Ithan Avenue. A few hours later, the vehicle was recovered in Philadelphia and charges are pending against a male juvenile who is not affiliated with the University. Four other students reported items taken from their vehicles parked in the same garage at approximately the same time as the vehicle was stolen. All of the vehicle-related thefts are considered related, as property from those thefts was recovered from the same stolen vehicle.

Please call 9-1-1 with any information in regard to these incidents or when reporting suspicious activities.

The Radnor Police respects citizens' privacy, civil rights, and civil liberties by emphasizing behavior, rather than appearance, in identifying suspicious activity. Factors such as race, ethnicity, and/or religious affiliation are not suspicious. The public should only report suspicious behavior and situations (e.g., an unattended backpack or package, or someone breaking into a vehicle or restricted area). Moreover, any physical descriptions are based on victim and witness statements provided to the Radnor Police at the time the incident was reported or developed through investigation.
