The Board of Health
The Township's Board of Health, with technical assistance from the Township Health Officer (a full-time position in the Community Development Department, currently occupied by a Health Officer / Code Official), meets monthly to discuss issues and recommend appropriate policies related to public health, such as:
- AIDS
- Blood-borne pathogens
- Communicable diseases
- Health education
- Lyme Disease
- Prevention programs
- Rabies
- Use of tobacco products
Environmental Advisory Council
In 1997, the Township Board of Commissioners established an Environmental Advisory Council (EAC) as a subcommittee of the Board of Health. The EAC, as it is called, serves a clearinghouse for issues of any environmental nature, recommends plans and programs for the identification and resolution of local environmental problems, and encourages voluntary environmental programs through community participation.
