Emergency Notification System

Radnor Township has instituted a new rapid emergency notification service called CodeRED®. The new system will distribute emergency messages via telephone to targeted areas or the entire county at a rate of 1,000 calls per minute. CodeRED® employs a one-of-a-kind Internet mapping capability for geographic targeting of calls, coupled with a high speed telephone calling system capable of delivering customized pre-recorded emergency messages directly to homes and businesses, live individuals and answering machines.

This service can be used in case of fires, evacuations, lock downs, downed power lines, lost individuals, natural disasters, abductions, water system problems, criminal threats, or other emergencies. Calls can be geographically targeted for localized messaging. If widespread, the entire community could be called within 10 to 15 minutes.

Radnor Township residents are welcome and encouraged to enter their contact information for home, business, and mobile phones so they may be contacted by the system in the event of an emergency. It is important for Township residents and business customers to register, especially if they use unlisted numbers like cell phones.

Radnor Township may also activate CodeRED to send GENERAL and/or Parks & Recreation notifications to registered subscribers to communicate non-life safety matters, such as planned road closures, water main repairs, water and power service interruptions, etc.  By selecting the box for GENERAL and/or Parks & Recreation alerts, you can also receive these types of notifications. There is no charge to register for or use CodeRED and your personal information will be kept confidential.

With CodeRED, you get the option of also receiving the CodeRED Weather Warning. These alerts are automatically generated when the National Weather Service issues a warning for your location.  This early warning could prove to be life-saving.
