Radnor Township has required storm water management since the late 1970's. In May 2005 the township's Board of Commissioners passed a comprehensive storm water management ordinance. Delaware county developed this ordinance in response to Pennsylvania's Act 167 for the Darby & Cobbs Creek watersheds. Thirty 4 Municipalities have signed on to the minimum requirements set by the county. Radnor Township has required all areas of the Radnor to comply with this ordinance even those portions outside of the Darby Creek watershed (Gulph and Mill Creeks).

Runoff Issues

Recently the township has installed 2 storm water management systems to help with runoff issues. Both systems have been installed under existing parking lots. One system is located in Garrett Hill the other in Wayne. One has utilized porous paving. The township is currently working on installing another storm water management system. This system will be installed under the field at the Middle School in Wayne. This will be installed in 2007.

After Hurricane Floyd

As a result of Hurricane Floyd in September of 1999, a number of stormwater management projects were developed for the township by our consultant engineers, Pennoni Associates, Inc. This report recommended structural as well as non-structural solutions. Several of the structural solutions have been installed. The 2 projects noted above as well as the work completed at the open space at the corner of S Devon and Conestoga Roads and the work the Church of the Savior in Tredyffrin Township completed on their own.
