Radnor Township observes Domestic Violence Awareness Month in October. We would like to bring light to the fact that most of us know someone who is a victim of domestic violence.
Domestic violence is a recurring and deliberate pattern of abusive behavior perpetrated by a partner, former partner, or familial relationship to gain power and maintain control over another. It affects people from all backgrounds is something no person should have to go through.
- 74% of Americans know a victim of domestic violence
- 1 in 4 women experience domestic violence in their lifetime
- 1 in 10 men experience domestic violence in their lifetime
- Annual health-related costs of domestic violence exceed $5.8 billion
Leaving a violent relationship is a process that can take up to 7 to 11 attempts before the victim can get away and even then, safety cannot be ensured. If you or a loved one need help, know that the Radnor Township Police are here to help. We can be contacted by calling 610-688-0500. Remember, if you need immediate assistance, please call 911.
We are also proud to support Domestic Abuse Project of Delaware County. It is the mission of the Domestic Abuse Project Centre to prevent domestic violence and empower victims to move towards self-sufficiency. If you or a loved one are experiencing violence in a relationship, you can also reach out to the Domestic Abuse Project of Delaware County via their 24-hour hotline at 610-565-4590. Someone will always be there to answer the call and to hear you.
