The Highway Patrol & Traffic Safety Unit is tasked with investigating serious or fatal vehicle crashes and addressing traffic concerns throughout Radnor Township. This Unit conducts speed checks, speed studies, crash reports, and traffic calming research. In 2021, they completed 75 studies. The Unit is supervised by Sergeant Mark Stiansen with three officers trained in Accident Reconstruction, Motor Carrier Enforcement and DUI Detection among many other specializations.
The Highway Patrol Unit is both by vehicle and Police Motorcycle. All Officers received their coveted "wings" from the Philadelphia Police Department's Elite Highway Patrol "Wheel School." Motor Officers access areas of the Township such as our parks and trail system easier than by vehicle. In addition, they provide traffic escort for visiting dignitaries and special event processions.
